About The Show
Dance has deep roots in Mexican tradition. Since it first appeared in Mexican lands, it has been associated with religious customs, artistic movements and important moments in Mexican history. In 1952, Amalia Hernández, dancer and choreographer, founded Ballet Folklórico de México, having embarked, at a very early age, on a never-ending quest to rescue the dancing traditions of Mexico. She wanted to show the world Mexican traditions from the pre-Columbian, Spanish and Revolutionary eras. Amalia Hernández and Ballet Folklórico de México have been distinguished with more than 200 awards in recognition of their artistic merits.
