As Popejoy Hall reopens, the health and safety of our patrons is our highest priority.
As part of that commitment to health and safety, we require for all patrons ages 12 and older, as a condition of entry into the venue, provide proof of one of the following:
- A guest is “Fully Vaccinated” against COVID-19 with a vaccine (Vaccine) approved or authorized by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) or World Health Organization (WHO). “Fully Vaccinated” means that the performance date must be at least 14 days after a guest receives the final dose of the vaccine.
To be considered fully vaccinated for entry, the final dose of the vaccine must be administered at least 14 days prior to a performance.
At this time, either vaccination proof or negative COVID-19 PCR tests are not required for children aged 2-11. However, children in this age group must wear a mask securely covering the mouth and nose and be accompanied by an adult who meets vaccination requirements. In the interests of their safety, children under 2 will not be admitted.
This policy is in effect until further notice and is subject to change at any time. We will communicate updates to this policy, as well as all our safety measures, by email and social media and updates to this page.
All New Mexico residents may obtain an electronic copy of their vaccine records at:
Guests with accessibility questions, or who require additional assistance related to the venue’s COVID-19 policies may email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (505) 277-4569. All events are planned at full capacity, subject to applicable law and governmental approval.
What documents prove I’m vaccinated?
Your vaccination card, a photo or photocopy of your vaccination card, or a digital vaccination record will all be accepted as proof of vaccination.
If your vaccination card has been lost or misplaced, you may download a digital vaccination record at https://nmsiis.health.state.nm.us/webiznet_nm_public/Application/PublicPortal
Do I need to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test every time I see a show?
Yes. We will not be storing your private health information, so we will need to verify your vaccine status for each Popejoy Hall performance that you attend.
Do I still need to wear a mask?
Yes. Masks securely covering the mouth and nose are required for all patrons, regardless of age or vaccination status. Masks must be worn at all times inside the theater, the University of New Mexico (UNM) Center for the Arts, and when riding the shuttle.
How do I know that Popejoy staff are following these protocols?
The University of New Mexico (UNM) requires that staff be fully vaccinated by September 30, 2021. Volunteers and backstage crew will also be fully vaccinated. Additionally, all staff, volunteers, and backstage crew members are required to wear a mask at all times inside the theater or UNM Center for the Arts.
My child is not eligible for the vaccine. Will they be required to show a negative COVID-19 PCR test?
No. At this time, children aged 2-11 are not required to show vaccination proof or the negative results of a COVID-19 PCR test. However, they must wear a mask securely covering the mouth and nose and be accompanied by an adult who meets vaccination requirements. Children under 2 will not be admitted.
It has not been 14 days since I received my second vaccine dose. Can I still attend?
A negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to the performance will be accepted for patrons aged 12 and older who received their second vaccine dose less than 14 days prior to the performance.
I received my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine but will not receive the second dose in time for my performance. Can I still attend?
A negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of the performance will be accepted for patrons aged 12 and older who have not yet received their second vaccine dose.
I’m not vaccinated. What COVID-19 test results will be accepted?
Only the negative results of COVID-19 PCR tests administered by a lab within 72 hours of the performance will be accepted for entry. The results of at-home tests will not be accepted.
Why are patrons under 12 exempt from vaccination requirements?
COVID-19 vaccinations for children under 12 have not yet been authorized or approved for use by the FDA. When vaccines receive FDA approval to be administered to this age group, we will revisit and revise our vaccination requirements in accordance with CDC guidance.
Is Popejoy Hall saving any of my health information?
No. Staff members will simply check your proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 PCR test. No information will be saved.
